Agreed! I’m 49, 5’9”, and weighed 155# in college and beyond, until the American Diet caught up with me, a slow creep that was easy to ignore for decades until I had a physical and got my new drivers license in the same week. 194#? BMI 29? That puffy face is me? What? How…?
I cut out processed food, carbs, and sugar. It actually wasn’t hard at all—sugar is a drug that gives you the cravings for more, but when it’s gone those cravings go with it (your body sees processed carbs as sugar, btw). I drink homemade kombucha in the morning, big salad with homemade dressing around noon, protein and veggies ~6pm. I’m rarely hungry. I drink natural spring water and get good sleep. I walk everywhere and enjoy yoga/isometrics in the mornings and 30 mins cardio every 2-3 days.
Nine months later I’m 162#, BMI 16, strong, healthy, happy, and I don’t miss anything about the garbage I consumed blindly for years.

Good stuff Michael. Did you have to make any changes to your work schedule to get there? I have been able to reduce my BMI significantly in the last year only because I don't have a commute anymore and I can sneak in a long walk or run in the mornings now. I still snack a lot especially when I'm stressed due to work.
