As both an owner and a user we’ve had a pretty good success rate with Airbnb. On both sides you have to be attentive to the descriptions and reviews. When we’ve chosen lower-priced places we also lowered our expectations. Conversely, when we charged more we received a more responsible/attentive clientele and that, in turn, made us happy to provide more creature comforts (like a stocked organic coffee bar or higher thread-count sheets). The best hosts are the ones who travel themselves, actually enjoy the quirky variety of people, and arent simply looking to make a quick buck.
