In my experience people devoutly involved with organized religions often feel threatened by the concept of meditation, confusing it for false-prayer or a “new-age” cultish practice. So wrong. So sad. I appreciate your insight (and personally relate) and hope that naysayers come to realize that spirituality is a personal journey, but mindfulness benefits us all. White light splinters through a prism, and many on the other side can only align with one specific aspect, a comfortable color or trope. But that shouldn’t exclude a recognition of the other wavelengths or, most importantly, the source: the unifying energy, the master life-force we all inhabit and share. Meditation helps us reach that, no matter what symbols we affix around our souls.
