It’s amazing to me that grass was ever planted—or even allowed—in places where it doesn’t grow naturally.

We have become a society that is completely out of touch with the natural world, and yet we maintain our hubris. Mama Nature is always self-correcting and the weather doesn’t say, “oh, my mistake, I didn’t realize I was affecting HUMANS!! Let me just put away this tornado/fire/hurricane/tsunami/drought/flood/blizzard etc.”

Living en masse in locales without basic resources and then thinking we can forever appropriate from elsewhere or manufacture what we need out of nothing is foolhardy. And now, finally, we are actually feeling the proof.

It makes it kinda hard to feel bad.
