Sometimes I wish I’d taken the $100K I spent on my BFA in Film & Photography and used it to actually make films instead. Would that have propelled my career? Of course back in my time this wasn’t an option (and most of it wasn’t my money). But I think people are finally looking at alternative definitions for “higher education” and what that actually means towards a fulfilling life.

Don’t get me wrong — there are other bonafide benefits and invaluable experiences in college life beyond the classroom— but if it was all really just about making enough money I should have trained to become an electrician or started my real estate career straight out of high school.

And yes, there are probably too many administrators. And not enough cashiers at Trader Joe’s.
