To put it into perspective, the bulb was already a young teenager when my grandmother was born. She survived two world wars and other innumerable conflicts, The Depression, the inventions of TV, computers and commercial aviation. She lived long enough to see her great-grandchildren driving and now she’s been gone the same number of years that the bulb burned before she was even alive.

And the light continues to shine…
