We drove from LV to LA a year ago. Looking at the incredibly vast and empty lands it seemed like “starting from scratch” and creating an energy-efficient solar/geothermal organized city should be entirely possible. But “If you build it they will come” mentality is flawed because cities are not neighborhoods or tourist attractions and they don’t simply “start”. It is an organic process based on resources and need, history, topography and countless other invisible systems that evolve. China is learning this. But it is fun to play SimCity, knowing It Isn’t Real.
