We loved living three hours from Montreal; it was like visiting Europe a short drive away, plus the prices were better with the exchange rate, the quality of our purchases were often better, and we loved the food and people. We even got our shots for international travel at 1/10th the American price with no waiting! There are definite advantages. But somehow we were also happy to come home to our “crazy” “hectic” “messed up” “chaotic” country. To describe all of America as one thing is faulty: there are 350M people here from 50 distinctive states with broadly different ideologies. There’s intensely varied topography and myriad ways of life. There’s an ability to manifest your dreams here like no other place I know. No place is perfect and it isn’t a competition. I’m happy you found your bliss in the north, I like being a few hours below the border.
