Yes!! I found a sticky note in an old notebook, written when I was twelve: “I wanna write books and turn them into movies.” I think I was modeling Stephen King more than Russell Banks, but somehow, I knew.

It took almost four decades until I published my first novel, with LOTS of interruptions along the way, and even more excuses—mostly qualms about the financial aspect of giving up “work time” to pursue it.

But I did it. And it’s a GOOD BOOK that people tell me they love. One day it will make a great movie, too.

My point: it can happen. Find your sticky notes go forth!!
